About Us
The Chatham Music Club (CMC), founded in 1999, promotes the appreciation of classical music through performance and education. CMC is a Cape-wide organization with over 100 members who join either as performers or listeners. We sponsor a charitable scholarship program, which annually awards scholarship grants to deserving applicants. To date, over $55,000 has been awarded.
“Music gives a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything”.
To fund these objectives, CMC offers two concerts open to the public each year. The Instrumental Concert, held in the winter, features members, guests, and past scholarship recipients. Proceeds from this concert support the CMC Scholarship Fund. The second concert is a themed concert held in June. This concert features members, guests and current scholarship winners performing vocal and instrumental solos, duets and small ensembles.
In addition to the public concerts, meetings are held September through May in members’ homes. After guests are introduced and upcoming musical events announced, there is a forty-five minute recital by members and guests. A wine and cheese reception allows members to greet the performers and to network.
A monthly newsletter is sent to all members, advising them of musical events presented by the CMC or its members.
